mums are all a twittered

Phew! I’m glad that’s over.

Last Friday, Sue Sinclair from Raspberry Kids and I presented at momcafe about social media. I say I’m glad that’s over because public speaking makes me very, very nervous. In fact when I was handed the mic the first thing I did was look out at the sold out audience (no pressure!) and blank. What was yoyomama? What was yoyobelly? Who was I? Once I figured out the mic I found my stride, at least I hope so, and it was a lot of fun.

We started by taking a poll of the room to find out how social the mamas in attendance were and they were plenty social. But it’s still hard to do a talk that isn’t boring for those who are more experienced while also not completely confusing for those who are new to it all. Like parenting, it’s all about balance!

If you missed it and want to find out what transpired – besides my fit of nerves – you have a few different options.

Sarah, the face of yoyobelly, live tweeted the event and others pitched in as well. Want to see the nuggets? Just follow the tag #mctweet. Here’s her most retweeted tweet from the event.

momcafe has  posted their notes from the event which is great because they also include the audience questions, and Sue’s also put our PPT up on slideshare. Gosh, it’s almost like being there, minus the lattes, connections and great conversation. In fact, local mom blogger Keri from Crunchy Carpets wrote a great review that summed up that whole point of social media, ie. it’s social!

So on that note, here’s a list of all the lovely twits (I know, I know, that’s not the right word, but it’s such a good one!) who attended. If you’re looking for local mamas this is a great place to start:

If you were there and didn’t get a chance to give us your “handle” or we inspired you to join twitter, email me and I’ll update this list.
